Inactive friends

What do you do when your friends go inactive for a month or more? Do you delete them as friends or just leave them there to keep your friend count up? I make sure that at least once a month I go thru all my friends and reply to something. I am finding that some of my friends have either not posted anything new in a about a month OR they have not even logged in in over a month. I like to do this because it helps my friends earn while helping me earn. I just don't know what to do. I literally go thru my friends list one by one and I hate not being able to respond to anything. I tried replying to posts they have replied to but after a while they run out too. What do you do?

when i am on myLot, i reply to discussions started by my friends most of the time. i think that accepting invitations from them is accompanied by a responsibility of communicating with them and getting to know them better through the discussions. there are friends on my list who are inactive for a very long time. and still, whenever i am about to push the delete button, i back out from doing so. i still hope that one day, they'd come back and say hello. my hopes are still up that they will drop by and check the site later. i don't know.but i really find it difficult to delete a friend on my list. happy mylotting maildumpster!

I don't really go through my friends list. At least once a day, I go through the "discussions my friends started" link and look for discussions to reply to. If someone is inactive, I just won't see discussions from them, so it is not like they are wasting space or anything. I only have about 30 friends on my list, and I am more tempted to deleate people who always post discussions that don't interest me, because I have to scroll thru them every day, which can be a bother.

What if they never show up again on mylot? How can you then find out about why they were inactive?

I don't really notice my inactive friends. Course, I don't have many friends to begin with. LOL! I choose my friends based on what they like to talk about. If they have common interests with me, I'm more likely to read and respond to their discussions. I do check the friends' discussions page to see if anything is interesting, but I only respond to ones that sound good to me. If they're inactive, I just don't notice them.

i wont delete them when they go inactive for some time but i do check them whether they are there are not. even i do was inactive for some time so i wait for maximum or i wont mind not delete them at all but sometimes it looks like lot of time consuming to go through all friends like more than 100.

Good morning Maildumpster, Like some other's of your respondent's, I would not delete someone if they've been inactive for a month. Although I respond to friend's discussions as a priority over any other discussions, there are times when people's lives ebb & flow in different directions. I would think it would make them feel quite badly if they returned to find that they're friends dumped them. If I put them on my friend's list in the first place, I must have felt some kind of connection to them, or shared common interests. So instead of deleting them, I'll give them whatever time they need in their 'real' life. I will make a point of sending a personal message though, just to let them know that they've been missed. If they do not respond to that, then I know that they are busy elsewhere.

I check the "discussions my friends started" every day and also sometimes visit their pages to see that I didnt miss anything.. I should really clear out my friendslist coz I am sure that I have some inactive ones and there is no reason for me to keep them there if they dont even log on.

I recently went through my friends list and I did delete some. Most hadn't been active in months. They hadn't even logged in since they added me as their friend. I have others that might not be that active but so long as they are logging in to mylot on a regular bases, once a month type thing, then I don't mind. That's their choice. I'll keep them as a friend. I just want to make sure that I can help my friends out with their discussions and they can help me out. I can't see having a huge number of friends just for the heck of it. Also if they have been inactive for months I don't really want to post to their discussions and this way if they aren't on my friends list they won't show up in the "Discussions my friends started".

I wont delete my inactive friends from my friends list even if if it takes a decade to have touch with them. But wont take that much time to have touch again. The person who sticks with any other wont leave that much soon

well, i dont really delete them from my friends list when they go inactive because it wont change a thing anyway.. i mean it will not be helpful if we delete thme from the list and besides, what if they will comeback? there is always that chances and probabilities right? so let them be in our list anyway they have been tuly helpful sometime in our mylotting days!:)

No I don't delete them in my list. Maybe they go somewhere. Once they are in my friends list I don't want them to delete. Who know someday they will be back again.

Yes, I do delete people from my friends list once they have been inactive for 2 or 3 months. I deleted about 10 yesterday. Friends tally doesn't really bother me as much it does some of the other people here. I have seen some of the people on mylot just randomly start adding people to their friend list and some of them have over a thousand people in their friend list for bovious reasons. All that says about them is that they want others to respond to their discussions but they don't care about responding to their friends' discussions. I don't like to do that. I would rather have 50 friends who post regularly and start good discussions. That way I will be able to respond to each one of their discussions. I do from time to time go through each and every page of my friends' profiles and if I see a discussion that I would like to add something then I respond.

I think a lot of people wander away when they realize how little they make for all the writing and posting they do. Many of them will never be back. If I have nothing better to do, I will remove inactive friends. Keep adding newer active friends. It's the same thing with most of my referrals. They will post once or twice, then that is that.

If they have not been active for a month then I delete them if they have not responded to any of my discussions in the same length of time then I also delete them. I dont want to keep my friends count up I want to keep it around 100 or so..

I go through my friends list also, & try to reply to a question or two from each of them daily. If I find that they have been inactive for a month or more, I would delete them. I have not been a member for to long, however it's on my list of things to do in the next two week or so. (Good Question)
