Potatoes are starchy. Starch is a carbohydrate and in the bloodstream carbohydrates quickly become sugar, which stimulates insulin, the fat storing hormone. People put all sorts of crap on their potatoes. We put butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits and all sorts of other nasties on the potatoes. Carbohydrate and fat together is never a good thing. Other times we deep fry the potato. Again, not a good thing. Potatoes in moderation are fine. They can be part of a healthy diet. Just don't eat them exclusively or in abundance. You're better off with green, leafy vegetables over potatoes any day.
