Does a travel advisory affect your plans?

Does a travel advisory affect your plans? If, let's say, you plan to travel to this country and then a few days before your departure, your embassy releases a travel advisory stating the negative scenario in that country and advising you to not pursue your travel/trip, will that affect your plans? Or will you still go?
