I slouch. I've had a slouch, not a serious on since I was young. I don't like it, I try to remind myself not to slouch because it'll make me shorter. I hope I don't have a hunch back when I'm older.

OK, you just made me sit up straight again! LOL I slouch too. I often sit at the bed on the laptop and type away bent over the computer. I know that can't be good because I often have to stop to straighten my back and it pops several times in the upper section. When I walk...I am often looking down or just slightly ahead. So, I'm not sure what my posture is like when I walk. I will have to pay attention next time. Sleeping...can one have poor posture when sleeping? Cause if one is concerned about their posture...then I guess the best position would be on one's back then. But I rarely sleep on my back. Hmm...I wonder if I am going to loose a couple inches with age. And here...I am already short. ha ha

Hey! :D Then I have good posture when I am sleeping!!!!! :) I sleep on my side with a body pillow that I have between my knees. This is because when I was pregnant, that was the only position I would be comfortable in. So, I got used to sleeping like that. I have good posture sleeping! Yay!

Sleeping may cause bad posture as well. It depends on how soft your bed is. When you are lying on your back, there will be a gap on your lower back and that sometimes will cause lower back pain. I suggest piling a few pillows under your knees to flatten your back, or better yet, sleep in fetal position with a pillow between your knees.

I have slouched over a bit all of my life. It is not good, it causes back trouble in latter life and I have back trouble now.

Same here. My family has a genetic condition that affects posture. I haven't had it yet, and I hope I don't. I know what you mean about back troubles. Take care.

I am a sloucher also. I try to sit straighter but then I always find myself back to slouching.

Same here. I'm trying to fix it. Check out my response to the first message on how to fix it. Sorry, I don't have cut & paste.

well, of course I straightened up when I read your title, lol! I used to have excellent posture when I was a girl. I had a big growth spurt and for a few years I was taller than many of my friends, so I adopted a slouch. I did this partly so I would look the same as everyone else. Now I try to remind myself to have good posture. It makes you look thinner, breathe better, and feel more confident. But it is hard work! I feel like I'm always reminding myself. I have terrible posture, especially at the computer. Thanks for reminding me to sit up straight :)

I believe my posture is pretty satisfactory, i dont do anything i would see as detrimental to my body at all. I dont slouch too often, Maybe when im eating or sitting on a bench, but thats about it. Most of the time im lying down actually :P how lazy of me :p One of my mates ,though, slouched a fair bit, not too much that it was noticable (untill it was pointed out). He had to have a back brace thing on for about 6 months. It didnt look like a very nice thing to have, and seeing him like that always made me sit up a little straighter. He couldnt bend down to much and he had to wear this thing for most of the day. Not a situation i would ever want to get myself into.

Did it help with his slouch? One of the reason he has a brace could be he has scoliosis. Thanks for response.

i also slouch. They say that it's more relaxing if you have a straight body, or at least make it straight. But i don't think so. I can't hold on much longer when i make my body straight. It's relaxing when i'm slouch.

That is because the muscle in your chest are shortened and the back muscles are stretched, and after a long period of time they stay that way. So by standing straight, your muscles are used so they become tired quickly. One way to fix it, if it is not too serious, try to stretch the front muscles and make your back muscles stronger. I'm trying to do that now. Good luck.
