Can you guys sleep with the television or radio on?

I actually prefer to sleep with the television or the radio on. It makes me feel more comfortable, hearing some sort of music or sound before I go to sleep. I get kind of scared hearing total silence when I'm in bed. Too many horror movies, I think.

I can't sleep if I hear any noise at all . I have to have it completely silent and if I hear anything at all I have to get up and shut it off before I can go to sleep . My teenage daughters can't go to sleep without listening to music so some night I find it hard to sleep because some of the noise comes down to me . I am like you in one sence because I need it to be silent because of the horror movies . I need to be able to hear any suspicious noise or I can't sleep lol . If I had a t.v or a radio playing then I wouldn't be able to hear anything but that and would end up thinking about horror movies I saw and would end up imagining something was there that I could not hear because of the noise . We have to stop watching horrors :)

I agree. I have to stop watching those horror movies, but I'm just so addicted to them!

When I was single, I also cannot sleep in total silence. I do not watch too many horror movies but I just feel that the silence at nighttime really gives me the creeps. So I turn on the radio until I fall asleep. Then in the middle of the night, I turn the radio off. I don't feel afraid anymore because probably I am too sleepy already. Now having a family of my own, I no longer sleep alone. Just sleeping with my husband or my baby makes me feel safe and comfortable.

I set my TVs sleep timer so I have some light and sound when I'm going to sleep. But if I let it stay on all night, then I start incorporating it into my dreams. Not a good thing, especially if it a news show and I start dreaming about all the atrocities they are reporting on.

I have to have some sort of noise when I sleep, I just cannot sleep in pure silence. Silence bugs me way too much. I don't even like pure silence when I'm in class and we're taking a test or something. It's creepy.

Same here, sometimes even when I study, I can't do it without some music in the background.

As I often suffer from bouts of insomnia, any sleep is precious to me. If I am so tired that I am falling asleep anyway, it doesn't matter if the tv or radio is on, I will fall asleep. I don't mind being in the silence either, sometimes it helps me to focus my mind and relax.

There was a time when I could not get to sleep without listening to music. There was also a time when I could not sleep without the voices of people talking on the television waking me up. Now I find myself dozing in front of the TV, but I'm still and insomniac and can't get to sleep when I'm supposed to, music or not.

I can't sleep unless I have the radio or the TV on. I usually fall asleep listening to AM 740 locally on my radio (on line at http://www.am740.ca ) or The BBC World Service which broadcasts locally on a university station here in Guelph or can be heard on line at http://www.bbcworldservice.com

I take a sleeping pill most nights and I am sure I could sleep through a hurricane if it came through my bedroom.. T.V. radio, anything.. Nothing will stop me from my sleep.

i think hearing the tv is sort of soothing or that it reminds me how tired i am. i find myself falling asleep much easier with the tv on. i don't listen to the radio much so i wouldn't know. i'm sure it would work all the same though.

Same here, I think it's soothing too. It's better for me hearing people making noise in the t.v. rather than hearing total silence. It's like I'm not alone or something.

thats very different with me I cant sleep with the television or radio still on,the sound from the radio or the display in television monitor make me concentrate with the device. Maybe you just scare about something so you need any voice can make you feel better. I hope you enjoy ur sleep ,and hope you have a bad dream ..ups ..sorry i mean nice dream...hihihi

Haha. But I think you're right, I only need the noise because I'm a scaredy-cat or something.

sleeping is a very good word for me, i can sleep only if i am sleepy or if i feel like sleeping, i am just not bothered about what musc or sound i am hearing,it is very hard to wake me up once i sleep , i surely do think that u are watching too many horror movies to get scared hearing total silence!
