Before I was a Mom...

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom... I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom... I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom... I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom... I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom... I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom. To all the mother out there, you know what I mean

Thank you so much, as a mother this touched deep.It was as if someone were reading my thoughts for the past 4 years.I hear women who say"Before I was a mom, I was a size 2" and I wanna shake them! We are blessed with little gifts from God.Every sacrifice made, tear cried, dollar spent...they are worth that and so much more.Have a great week and thanks again!!!

This is great. Before I was a mum I didn't realise that coffee tables had corners which would leave a big bruise. Before I was a mum I didn't know a child could grow so quickly and be running under a table one day then hit it with their head the next as they had suddenly grown taller in the night.

You touched a nerve here and I feel a whole in my gut because I can't be a full time Mum any more. It feels sad but I know my son knows I love him and I do my best for him. My situation is quite tricky at the moment but I know things will get better for us. I HAVE to believe that. Thanks for reminding me always of the finer and beautiful things in life. We must be grateful for all these little blessings.

everything happens in time. just keep focusing on the moment you and your son are together for good, and continue the actions it is going to take to make that happened. it will happen sooner then you know it

Thank you for that, I knew what it felt like to pee peed on, puked on, pooped on, and bleed on before I was a mom(I worked in nursing homes), but the rest of it all rings true. Did you write this? If so it is very good and beautiful, keep up the good work.
