I think they should wait until at least 4 yrs of age is the best time. Here in my time they take them as young as three and still not potty trainned. I think that is just a bit crazy and that is the school that accepts them. My three yr old but will be four in July is starting preschool/headstart in Sept. When is your child or when did they first start school? When I was a small kid I started to early and had to take headstart over again cause of it. Happy to hear your comments and thoughts. Shandra

well i think age 4 is fine.Even here in holland the government thought children should go to school at age 2.I mean how sick can you be.And also they wanted to force mothers to take there children to kinder garden so woman could work all day. Really you need time with your children and children need their parents.why taking them away so soon.

I like my baby now who is 4 years old to start her preschool this school year but her father told me not to because she might get tired of getting to school and not be able to finish schooling. We had seen an experience like that. My cousin starts his preschool at a very early age and got tired of it. Now, he isnt into school and didnt even graduated in intermediate school where in fact he is 16 years old now. Her father said that we should let our baby to enjoy her childhood and let her play first before sending her to school next year.

I agree with you that before the age of 4 is too young. My son is four and will be starting prek in august. He is very excited and my daughter who is 3 wants to go too. I have to explain to her that she is not quite ready yet (Even though she is fully potty trained). She will get to start prek next august.

My daughter started pre-school when she was three years old. I started her in pre-school so that she could get physical therapy. There was no other way to get it for her in my area without driving an hour each way. By signing her up for pre-school the physical therapist there would be able to eork with her to build up her leg muscles. My daughter enjoyed being there to interact with other children. My sons both started pre-school when they were four. My youngest did two years of pre-school because his birthday is two weeks past the deadline for starting kindergarten. I think that pre-school is helpful to children. I don't see any reaon not to allow your child to go to pre school when they are three. What does it hurt?

I understand this completely and that's good that she got the therapy she needed at that age but when I heard the other day that our preschool/headstart took kids that were not even potty trained yet the first thought was it's not a daycare it's a school for goodness sakes. I remember when I started I had to be potty trainned befor I could start school when I was three so my mom said but that was back in the day I guess. LOL... Have a great day.

My daughter started Pre-School when she was four and she does learn alot there. My son will start at the beginning of September and he will be four at the end of that month. I think four is the perfect time to send children to pre-school. Excluding working parents who have no choice but to have their kids in daycare - I can't see being a stay at home mom & shipping my kids off to pre-school at too early of an age. Parents should be parents and can teach their own children things. They can also get their child involved in play dates where you are also there.

i think when the kid is potty trained and can follow instructions already would be ok.during my time i started school when i was 5 years old and it was ok, i think... but considering the trend now..there are so many schools accepting children as early as 2 years old.Really!!its true.. anyway, it really all depends upon the parents..if there's a need to send them to school that early, why not?
