Are you aware of the freecycle websites ? If you are not, check out http://www.freecycle.org/ This is a site that can get out to a page applicable to where you live. What it is: a site designed to reduce landfill waste around the world, as well as help out anyone needy. If you have old stuff you want to give away or throw away, freecycle it! if you are in need of something or know of someone who is, ask your fellow freecyclers and you may recieve! For those of you who are aware of the site and have used it, what has been your experiencess with it ? have any strange incidences ? seen any weird things up for grabs ? I use the site here often for trading books, baby clothes, and even toys sometimes. Anything i dont want to keep i re-freecycle or donate to my local second hand shop. Thankz in advance for posting ;)

It is a really handy site. like i said i got quite a few outfits, shirts and pants for my baby girl. a lot where even name brands like disny and gap. I was surprised that it was really nice stuff, they just didn't have any use for it anymore.

My daughters and I all belong to freecycle and it has come in very handy. When we first moved in to this house, we didn't have enough furniture and through the generosity of others we were able to get some. Now that we are moving on, we have a lot of stuff that is too good to throw away but we have neither the time to put it on ebay nor the money to move or store it. So we have been freecycling it. We also have a friend who is moving out of state and she is bringing her stuff over for us to freecycle. We've had pretty good experiences, except for one person. We weren't going to be home so we left the box of miscellaneous items on the porch for her to pick up. The items were all as described in our post and she had agreed to take them all and freecycle what she didn't want. Instead she dug through the box, picking out only what she wanted and breaking some glassware in the process. Then she left the mess on our porch. Needless to say, anyone getting anything from us now has to come to the door and meet us. But all in all, we really enjoy the site and encourage everyone to use it. Probably the oddest post for was a childs yard toy, described as being really beat up, dirty, broken, with pieces missing and crayon marks and stickers all over it. The poster said she was going to take it to the dump but thought maybe someone would want it.

Aw yea i haven't left anything on the porch for people either. I figure someone else would probably take it and then i'd feel bad. That is strange why would they post something so "used" lol. maybe someone could use it as part of "artwork" lol.

I used to look on the one in my area but you have to pick up the items you are interested in and I have no car or license , so I don`t bother with it anymore ... I do pass the site on to all my friends and family though ...

I used to be really active, but lately the group in this area has been driving me mad. I gave away sooo many things and I went on there and requested either Yoga or Pilates videos (I couldn't afford to take a class in either so I figured this must be someone who lacked interest in one or the other), and the moderator sent it back telling me I asked for too many items. The very same day in the very same hour I sent it, one person asked for 'baby stuff' and another asked for two seperate specific videos. I was irked, I gave away a lot of great stuff and here I was being moderated for asking for something non-specific and basically ask me to clutter the boards by asking for Yoga videos and then Pilates videos. Silly. That really caused me to lose a lot of interest, but the freecycle idea is good if the moderators in your area aren't total nazis about moderating your posts! :)
