smartphones running on Windows will soon turn into virtual BlackBerries and the users will have the best of the both worlds: the ease and comfort of working seamlessly from the desktop to mobile environment in Windows and the functionality of best-in-the-class push services from BlackBerry. RIM plans to offer the software for a number of devices running Windows Mobile 6.0. Once installed, it will provide users with access to BlackBerry applications like its e-mail, phone, calendar, address book, instant messages and other functions. The devices will be offered through a number of US carriers to begin with in the coming months. The software will appear as an icon on the screen and will have the same interface as a BlackBerry.
