Thoughts and Prayers for My Grandpa

Friday, my grandpa had to have emergency surgery for an ulcer that ruptured and caused a horrible hole in his stomach. He almost bled to death and had to have 4 units of blood when he arrived at the hospital. He is doing better, but we're still in a touch and go situation. Pneumonia is a concern right now although he was taken off of the respirator yesterday. He's still in a lot of pain and is on his 5th day in the ICU. He's a tough man though. He is 79 years old and has a large family who loves him very much. Many are praying, but there can never be too many prayers :)

I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will be up and running in notime =) He sounds to be loved by many and love can heal - even if it hasnt been proven =)

Thanks so much :) He is loved by many and he's one funny guy, so I can't wait until he can talk again. We told the nurses they'll love him when he starts talking. They said if possible, they hope to get him sat up soon. It'll hurt since he had major abdominal surgery. It took gallons of saline to wash out the infection and he has a tube going through his nose that extracts additional infection. Sounds gross, but it is helping :)

He had to have a breathing tube put in his nose. He wasn't doing well without the respirator and is now refusing to cough to get the mucous out of his lungs. He will get penumonia if he doesn't because they are still unable to get him up.

Well, I'm sorry to hear your grandpa is in the hospital. I'm sure the doctors are taking good care of him and he will hopefully recover very soon. Give him a hug and tell him you love him. Thats what he needs right now. I hope he is well soon.

Thanks so much :) The doctors are doing well with him. He went from possibly not making it through the surgery because of his heart to not breathing on his own, but making it. Then, in a matter of hours he just started breathing on his own and they removed the respirator. He still has plenty to look forward to :) We're just worried about the fluid in his lungs.

Thanks so much. I got news about an hour ago that a tube had to be put back in because he was having difficulty breathing. He also won't cough because it hurts, but that could take him closer to penumonia if he doesn't. The doctor told him that, but he's being stubborn :(
