programming..uhhh..reckless job

i have done spme of programming language but i m not in a position to decide wat r the best way to learn a programming languge. since the design of programming language are changing drastically. most of the programming laguage known today provides abstract implementation of programming language. so plz wheter i go for practical approach or theoritical approach.
