Do you think that colors represent characters? For example I heard someone saying that blue (sky blue) represents open mindedness, lilac represents love, black - sorrow, white - purity and so on. Red is supposed to be the color representing danger. How far it fare to attribute characters to color and do you think any justification for that? please share your thoughts..

I have never heard of that. Sounds interesting, as you described me. :) I love sky blue, lilac, black, white and pink. What does pink represent? Super posting again, so you are getting another + rating for it. Keep it up. Have a great day.

i totally disagree . character is the outcome of ones innerself and nothing to do with color . a person in white doesnt mean he is pure . or a person in red is not mere danger . good clothes may be in different color . all colors are from god and it has nothin to do with the character of a person

Okay I can admit your points Madhu. When it comes to draw purity what color can be used? When you want to draw/symbolize danger in picture what color can be used. I can admit that we are attributing certain characters to certain colors, just like Kingship of animals to Lion. Thank you Madhu for responding.

Yes I believe. I like almost all color. I like red the most and I dont know the reason. Maybe it just fits my character. I'm not really brave though or maybe I just want to be brave:P

If you firmly believe colors have something to do with character, yes they have. And if you don't believe, they don't have. Your belief is important. thanks Ikinta for responding.

Colors really represent characters, as a healer and spiritual path finder I know this! We all have our color combination and what ever we wear and choose, in thise things allare reflect mostly! Our subtle body has layers of colors and each chakras are connected with chakras I dont know that how many people know about chakras but it is a term used in yoga and so lots of people are easy with the term! I hope that this discussion will go ahead with details. So right now let me stop here!

I always thought of red in that sense as being passionate or bold. Blue is supposed to have a calming effect. Yellow would be lively. Pink feminine, cute, bubbly. Green , cool & calm. I could probably come up with just about anything for any color imaginable. I think the justification comes from the objects we associate with the color. Such as green for instance.. we associate green with trees, jungles, grass, etc. therefore when we see green, we already have some sort of preconceieved notion in our heads. We may even ask. forest green? lime green, grass green when someone says an item is green. It is something almost inbred into us.

Green can be said as the color of fertility, prosperity etc. I heard that people in deep Amazon could identify more than 3000 shades of green!!!

Colours are another form of symbolism, which is why we have these associations for them. Rather intentional or not we have been taught that different colours represent different moods, characteristics etc. Its like the pictures of the people on the door of a toilet, We know that one of them means male and one means female. If i didnt see this on a toilet door though, id have a hard time identifying that the male is a man and probably say its a person. So depending on situation, something can change its meaning. Red may seen to be the colour danger, I represent it with the colour of blood, the colour of magma in a volcano and things like that. But I dont see a red rose as dangerous for example (even though they are lol). Black may seem to look like pity, but wearing black doesnt always have that effect on people (if you see where im coming from). Blue may seem nice and peaceful, unless you were stuck in the middle of the ocean, then the blue would look mysterious and dangerous. So reiiterating what I said, dependant on situation. I think white is a justified one though, the colour white is the purest of all the colours, because it is a mixture of them all (referring to light, not paint) so there can be no "purer" colour.

Well, Jay, have you ever thought of the logic behind attributing certain colors to certain characters/emotions/feel/ state of mind? And again, has it anything to do with culture.. because just as an example in my country, India, widows are supposed to wear white clothes. In muslim dominated areas women wear black clothes. How can you relate black with sorrow and white with purity then??

yeah i think that colors affect the way human think like for example, the trafficlights... its the color green for go, red for stop and yellow for slowing down... so its because of the colors description why its useful in everyday life... personally, i like the color pink coz its feminine and it makes me feel happy and in-love even if im not... =)

Okay, I admit for the traffic lights, but even if we make it a rule that red is for go, green to stop etc. will there be much difference? Best of luck with your love to Pink.. Thank you so much for responding.
