Of Filipinos and Friendster...

It was quite surprising how this community has grown. Back in highschool its so uncool to have no friendster account. Classmates which regularly see each other in school had to talk in friendster afterwards. I even have some friends who just have to visit their friendster twice a day. And some who race to get hundreds of friends and testimonials. I find it even funny that my college professors have their own accounts. And if friendster would pay out their participants like what MyLot does, well I know some people who will be earning plenty in dollars like an OFW without leaving their homes. From private messaging to bulletin, finding new friends or reconnecting with old ones, reading each other's profiles to blogs, friendster seem to have been a general part of the filipino pop culture nowadays. Just like Yahoo groups and Youtube, friendster occupies a purpose in our modern life, and therefore defines it. And though a lot of us lose interest in it now, you have got to notice how this still spreads in the provinces. I've been on vacation in Antique and I found myself surprised when my thirteen-year old twin cousins asked for my friendster account. And when I asked them how'd they heard about it, they looked at me insultingly and said, "alam naman ng lahat friendster." I didn't know whether to frown or roll my eyes.

It's true that Friendster is still really popular in southeast asia, particularly the Philippines. I think it's become dominated by filipinos which is cool. As far as living in the U.S. Myspace is the talk of the town so I guess it really depends on where you live.

Now that's interesting. It actually confirms a lot of people's belief that all they see in friendster are filipinos. MySpace huh? It also became famous here for awhile. ALong with High5. Then there was also the Pinoyster. But stilll no one was able to outrank friendster.

I have been a friendster member since 2004, it has helped me in so many ways like finding my old classmates from highschool and college and even my neighbors. Anyways sad to say i could not access it right now coz it is blocked in our server and its like i am missing so much after not having to visit it for almost two months...it makes me sad..but when we talk of mylot maybe mylot also a fun venue to meet new friends and then talk whats on your mind and the topics that you want to open up or things that you want to express but can't with friends or at home, i am an avid fan of mylot and continuing to post and reply. Plus the extra bonus of earning money. i like this community a lot!

Friendster. Yeah. Friendster helped me a lot too. As of now old friends separated by college are able to reconnect to each other. My friends keep on updating me on latest happenings, even gossips.

I'm a friendster member since 2003. One important purpose of it is to find some long lost friends whom you miss alot. And there is nothing wrong to have a friendster. And yeah, its funny when some people would have a competion in friendster. They wanted many friends (although it is impossible to have 500 friends). I also have myspace account since friendster way back 2003 is a bit laggy.
