I tend to think that awards are not in line with some of the best. Somehow, I find myself wondering on whys that make the movie not worth consideration as a nomination or even winner. Well, there may be a couple of downsides I think make a topical issue: 1) classification of the movie (foriegn, art, etc.); and, 2) the requirement to rely on the subtexts. For one, the subject of the movie relies on one's understanding of the history of the americas and Mayan customs and religion. Secondly, some people with reading issues fail to appreciate the movie all in all.
