Dependent in U.S.?

is it true that when you get 18 in US, you have to be separated in your parents and be dependent? is it true?

when you are 18, you are considered an adult for legal purposes. You are responsible for your own actions. Your parents are not obligated to continue providing your support. It does not mean you have to get up and leave, in fact many people do live home for much longer, and their parents do continue to be a major provider of their support.
