Confused about my Major in college...

Ok here'e my dilemna.. Back in 2000 after I graduated high school I took up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy just because I thought it's the best course for me, I hated some aspects of my course, struggled in every subject, almost all my grades are only one step higher from the failing grade and finally failed the 'accounting review' subject twice, I got really depressed and to top it off I just found that I am pregnant. Ok enough about the past... In 2 months the first term of the school year will start, I'm torn between continuing my previous course (Accountancy) where I hasn't been a good student, or take a new course (Marketing) that interest me now because of the potential job I'll do. Need advice...

Does your school have a career counseling center. I know most colleges do and it sounds like it might be a good idea for you to talk with a career counselor about some things before you get much further. They can give you a couple of tests to see where your interest really are and your strengths as far as ability and skill. From there they can look at what you past work history has been and help you to decide the best major for you as well as (possibly) the best way for you to approach what you would ultimately like to do. Congratulations on the pregnancy(I hope it's good news for you anyhow...)! One word of advice towards the middle to 3rd trimester while in college. If you can try to do your classes online through your college if you can. And of course be sure to tell your profs what's up :)

I think almost every college have their own counseling center, now for sure I'll visit the center thanks to your advice. Also The first trimester here in our country starts in June, companies here are not really impressed with online classes and the pregnancy happened 3 years ago.

Sorry, misunderstood about when the pregnancy happened. I'm glad to hear that you'll be talking to a career counselor. I really think it'll help.

You've proven it yourself that your former course just didn't suit you. I think to be indulge in the marketing side is a good step.Try it on, maybe you'll do good in that field. Just have the determination to succeed whatever field you would likely choose.

Well..!!YEs now that is past..!! Try to work with more of your brain... this time, parents can be a good help in this situation,Go for some career counciling...,collect some knowledge about the streams that are included in your interest..! Or you think you can do them..!Look a bit beyond of present and a little beyond your inerests for there profits and losses try to find out your weakness and strength . And one big thing..!! make it sure that you will be do it passionately..!! With some interest..!! You know I am facing a similar kind of problem..!! I just passed my high school with science (physics, chemistry, maths, computer) But now I am not sure of it that whether I'll be able to study engineering with that ease or not..! But on contrary I don't know the other option...say I don't know it by myslef where to go what to take as my career which can promise me a better future.! My bother say I have no passion about anything in my life..! Aimless..! help!

Yes the past must remain in the past. You seem really good in maths maybe you could try engineering, but like you said the course must be of great interest to you. Now I must think what I like better, marketing where it's more fieldwork or accounting where I'll be stuck in the office all day long.
