What is the longest period in your life you have gone without working? Do you have long gaps or do you usually just jump right into a new job? have you worked at the same job for a long time? for me i have been out of work now since july 2005 when i got pregnant with my second child, i havent been out looking for a job yet, so its been nearly 2 years which is the longest i have gone without work!!

I started my career in 1994 in a multinational company as permanent employee since then no rest. Only when I take leave say around 40 days in a year then only I spent time without work. Otherwise full year working. There are people who change jobs every year with few salary increase. I am being paid well so I have not thought about this. Though there are offers in market with more package but I am near my hometone so I have decided not to leave this job. I am being paid sufficient amount for my need as well as future savings so I am in this job since long. To earn fast and more it is necessary to change the job at least once in 2 years. Gain knowledge in every field. This will help us in later life with more job opportunities. In our country there is provision of maternity leave for lady. 3-4 months leave is granted and after giving birth to child, you can again join the same job. Hope in your country this provision also exists.

4 months was the most. I learned there never to leave a job without another job waiting for me in the wings. Worst financial gap ever.
