R senior players being given rest in bangla tour or dropped from squad???

as we all know that sachin & sourav r not considered for one day squad for bangladesh.the reason given was to provide rest. but why rest them, in the world cup they played only three matches & then they got whole lot of rest. is it a indication by the selection committee that senior players shuld call there retirement as the work of selection committee will be eased, other wise they will have to take harsh decisions.
