Commenting on discussions is not only polite, but can earn you money too.

I posted a discussion simular to this already but I don't think I posted it in the right place so I am going to try again. I see a lot of people talking about how they don't earn much here on mylot, and a lot of the posters don't comment on their discussions. I have also seen a lot of people say that you don't get paid for a comment on a discussion. Making a lot of posts that you just leave out in the cold of cyberspace isn't going to get it for you. One of my highest earning days here on my lot was one where I spent most of the day commenting on a discussion I started. So I checked it out, and according to mylot we get paid to post discussions, respond to discussions and commenting on current discussions. http://www.mylot.com/o/affiliate.aspx I hope this sheds some light for some people.

Yes, a lot of the new users tend to think that they don't get paid for commenting. This may be because it doesn't increase their post-count. I always comment on all my discussions and if someone replies to my comment, it really starts a good debate which is what mylot wants us to do. It wants us to start good topics which will get positive and negative response which i turn trigger intellectual debates.

Well I think that has to do with the fact that they are told by a lot of people that they can't earn moeny for comments. I am fairly new here and I for one and getting kinda tired of seeing what could be a good discussion turn out to be nothing because the OP doesn't comment on anything said. I enjoy being here on mylot, and like when I can get into a good discussion. I am just tired of seeing the people that post over and over again then complain about their earnings. I hope that by posting this, and the link that I found this information on we can start to see better discussions and not just those posts that are left to die on their own.

I think more people should concentrate on keeping the discussion going. I mean most people just respond and never come back to see what other person has to say, I hate it when that happens.

That was the whole reason I posted this discussion. Often now we see "serial" posters, or discussions that could be very interesting if they would just take the time out of their posting schedules to participate in the current discussion. You can take a look at my discussions and see that I do try to keep an interesting discussion going. There are times that I do not post a comment because just saying Thank you or something like that is against mylot rules because it doesn't add anything to the discussion. If I can't add anything more then what has already been said I just rate the response and move on. Like I said though I do try for the most part to keep a discussion going. After all isn't that what a discussion is? Communication from more than one party?

i do know we will get paid for getting comments, posting discussion, posting replies and so on.. even uploading picture.. but.. do you know how many post will eventually get you $1? i think it's alot. .because i posted 60 post yesterday.. and i got $1.19 .. i think that's a little bit little.. because 60 post is not little.. it requires lot of hardwork too.. i think it's because no one replied my discussion.. my reputation here is going down.. maybe because i posted the wrong discussion earlier.. people think i'm trying to manipulate the system.. it's wrong.. i will work for mylot until next month.. then i'll see if there's any changes.. if not.. i will just leave it :(

I couldn't actually say how many posts get you a dollar becasue it has to do with a lot of factors. I don't post every much everyday I have been here for about a month, and you see how many posts I have lol. I do post a lot of comments, because I enjoy having a good discussion.

Chalestchan, I think we should be content with the fact that mylot actually pays us for doing what most people do on the internet for free - chatting. I have searched the internet for money making opportunities and I know that there are very few sites that earn you money without any investment and mylot is certainly one of the best, if not the best.

I think the getting paid part here is only secondary. If you are looking for something that will make you earn money in a short time. I think we're better off finding a part time job in the real world.

I also do think we get paid for responding to peoples' discusssion and not to our own personal discussions. I have tried responding to my discussions and in all honesty, my discussion rating did not go up so i decided against responding to my discussion

I know the discussion rating is not affected, however myLot does say that they pay for commenting. Friday I did almost nothing but comment on my discussions and it was the highest earning day I have ever had. I made over $1 for the day and most of it was simply commenting on discussions. So it not only earns you money, but it also helps the discussion flow better and make it more interesting.

Hi friends, thanks for starting this thread. although i used to give comments to my own discussion and others discussions i replied but that number was less. i hope to increase my commenting more as it makes the discussion more meaningful and interesting. i think mylot pays for commenting also although that amount may be very small but they do.

Beetal_jack, I think commenting pays us as much as for responding. I post a lot of comments, not only on my discussions but also on discussions started by others and believe me it is as rewarding as responding to discussions.

It doesn't matter to me how much I am making in mylot really, I enjoy having discussions. If you look my posts I always comment when i can to help make it more of a discussion. I posted this more for the people that don't comment on their discussions in the hopes that we could see more and more interesting discussions as opposed to seeing people that post just for the sake of posting a discussion.

Its rewarding in more ways than one! I think this discussion is the most discussed one I have had yet. I am enjoying seeing what everyone has to say about it, and it has opened up a lot of conversation. For me this is more rewarding than the money is.

I hate how people are constantly saying that we DON'T get paid for commentingg on discussions cos it can make the discussions pretty lame if people don't like to reciprocate in them. The other day I had very little activity and when I cam eon to check my earnings I had ONE WHOLE CENT. Obviously I realised I could work out what I done for that cent. I had commented on a comment someone had left me for my response on someone elses discussions. DId I explain that clear enough. I had previously responded to a discussion, someone asked me a question adn I logged on and answered it and that is all I done. It was a one liner and I got a cent. I think this is alright considering it was such a short response that took me the total of 5 seconds. So YES we do get paid for comments as you have pointed out. We get paid for our contributions to myLot and building up the community. Money shouldn't be everything anyway. I can't understand how people say they are just here for the money but yet the get paid a dollar or so for a few hours work. I get paid $12 an hour and I am a waitress!

I fully agree. I had posted this discussion in the hopes that it would stop all the people who post nonsense every 3 seconds. a Discussion is supposed to be a two way street not you saying something and someone not saying anything back. I had hoped that this would enlighten people and that we would start to see better discussions.

yep, mylot definitely pays for making comments. A few days ago I didn't make any responses or start any discussions - all I did one morning was make a few comments to one of my discussions. I earned $0.09. This seemed like about 3c for each comment - I rated as well though - but that is very easy and quick to do. One day i earned $1.02 with 30 responses all of them which i tagged, rated and i also commented to some of my own discussions. Another day i made 40 responses with the same activities and made $1.70 in total (it was 86c then the rest was carried over onto the next day).

Thank you for sharing that. It's helpful for the people who think that I am just making it up. Sometimes it is hard for people to believe that it is possible becasue the post count doesn't go up or anything like that. Even when they see in black and white where myLot says that they do pay for it. But this conversation shows me that people do pay attention, and that we could possibly see more involved discussions.
