Do you tip hotel staff?

When you are staying in a hotel, and you call for extra pillows or something similar, do you tip the person who brings it to you? I work front desk at a hotel, and occasionally at night I have to run something up to a room. I'm always surprised at how few people tip. When I'm on vacation, I always make sure to tip anyone who goes out of their way to help me. Do you?

I worked in a hotel for a while and I woul dsya that you should definately tip one or two dollars if someone runs something up to your room. The staff can be earning hardly any money and if you give them money for even just a sode then they will appreciate it. I was housekeeping and now strongly believe in leaving tips for the housekeepers. Housekeeping is a hard tiring job and isnt fun as people think it is and sometimes a tip in a orom can make all the difference. 3 or 4 dollars in fine if one bed is used and the place is reasonable but I think that if there is any mess then 10 dollars should be left. Well if the stay is for more than a few days. Sometimes even a little note saying how much they appreciated you can be very nice.

I agree! I usually travel solo, and I'm pretty clean, so I usually leave $1-2 per day. I can't believe that people will spend $100 on a hotel room, and then not leave a dollar for the housekeeper!
