Are dogs clever while cats are average even dull?

My friends often argue whit me on such a question.Their reason is:As far as they know,cats do little things even nothing useful to their owners.While dogs can do a lot of miraclous tings.Such save their owners sometime or help their blind owners to get the right place.Cats only looked cute while useless.Every time,i lose the arguement,cause their views seemed reasonable. What is your opinion,my friend?Do you think so?
