As the playoffs move along i relaise how many of the commentators really annoy me. The one that I like and enjoy is Don Cherry adn Ron Mclean they really work well together and know the game adn not scared to speak their mind whether it is about players, coaches, ref, or NHL managment. Kelly Rudy wasa run of the mill goalie who soem how became a soso commentator but not to the degree of cherry adn mclean and TSN can take ther whole hockey crew adn just fire the bunch they are terrible they argue about things that are trivial to the game and have no real insight to it. Who are your Favorites or ones you enjoy?

As a Canucks fan, the ignorant Leafs announcers tick me off. Don Cherry has an obsession with the leafs, they're better even if they lose 5-1. When that Neale guy announced for CBC during the playoffs, he didn't know a thing about the Canucks. Just my two cents.

It is interesting to see various commentators. You often get a taste of local or more team oriented commentators when they patch in to a local channel for a game. I really love the commentators on Versus. As much as I used to love Don Cherry and I do think that he knows the game well and such I think his most recent antics and big mouth have just put a bitter taste in my mouth for him. Sometimes he's just simply ignorant and rude. While he does know and love the game he sometimes just thinks that his name alone allows him to say what he wants and I'm sorry but there's a time and place for certain things. I have to say I love Brian Engblom. I'm not sure why but I do. LOL Must be the mullet? I really enjoy Eddie Olczyck too. Both former players, like most of the hockey commentators.

I started watching hockey during the 1997-1998 season. Back then ESPN had started airning games. My favorite team was Bill Clement and Gary Thorne.Bill the ex- hockey player and Gary the announcer. That was how commentator teams were and are formed. They were great. They both knew hockey and they didn't clutter the broadcast with fluff. Another favorite is Darren Pang.As a ex-goalie I learned what to look for.Now Bill is on the Verus desk. Gary is getting in trouble doing baseball.and the last time I saw Darren he was diong the Coyote's games.

My favorite hockey announcer is Pat Foley. He used to do Chicago Blackhawks games for tv and radio. Now he does Chicago Wolves games. He was also the announcer in the arcade game NHL Open Ice. Famous Foley phrases: "Kick save and a beauty." "He really clocked him!"
