Do Clean As You Cook or Make a Big Mess And Then Clean Up Later

As for me I like to clean as I cook, so my work bench is always free of dishes, food and other cooking utensil that may crowd my space. Do you cook as you clean, or make the mess do the cooking and clean it all later after cooking? Thanks for your replys

I like the way you do your Job. Thats what I always say to my wife too. Her habit is to clean altogether at the end and so mostly kitchen space is full of mess.

I genearlly do not clean utensil, my servant do all that cleaning. Then too, i dont at all like a mess on my platform. i keep washing the plates and other easy utensils which i can do and the rest all i leave it for my servant to do. i just cant see my working bench all filled up and jumbbled up with loads of things on it. it gives a very messy and untidy look.

Hi Nardz, when i was a little girl and when i helped my mom cooked or baked , she always told me to clean it when we cooking or baked, so if we finish cooking then all the bench was clean too, and i did that until know, after finish cooking all my work for clean is finish too. so we can start eating with the whole family without thinking about the dishes.

I also like to clean as I go along when it comes to cooking. I am just that way in general actually. I figure that cleaning up as I go along will make it easier for me in the long run. This way after I eat clean up will be easier and then I can relax better!

I am so bad about making a huge mess, throwing it all in the sink and then cleaning up later. It goes alot faster and quicker for me that and I usually have three kids pulling at my shirt so I always save the mess for later. I then will clean it up the next morning. Man I am so lazy lol.

Hi, lol dont sell yourself short to laziness, sometimes it is hard to clean on the spot, especially when you have 3 little ones pulling at you lol. Like I said in an earlier response, each to there own ways... Thanks for your comment. Awsome!!!

I'm very far in the "clean it all up afterwards" camp. When I am cooking I am usually making at least three and usually five dishes at the same time. There are flames and splashing and cutting, and kids all to be controlled. I figure the mess created can wait until after food is served and everyone else is eating.

I only clean the table where I am cooking and leave the pans, and other utensils for the end.

It really depends on what I'm cooking, and how many dishes there are going to be. If I know I'm not going to have a huge pile, then I stack them neatly as I go. I do like to keep washing my favourite knife, though. I have seen people who cook have piles of dishes and bowls spread all over the place when cooking, and I just can't handle a clutter like that.

i like to clean as i cook..for me that frees up alot of space to continue working my masterpieces..lol..waiting til later just makes it more work and then you actually look at the mess you have created and just dont want to deal with the cleaning aspect of it..and dont even speak of eating the masterpiece then look mat the cleanup job..thats even worse!! the lazy daisy is in your blood stream!!and you can guarantee a tear to alwley fall when the cleaning has to begin!

having been trained as a professional Chef, I learned that it is better to clean as you go mainly to prevent cross contamination secondly so as not to clutter my work area, I have a compact kitchen and counter space is almost non-existaint, but I guess in many ways thats what keeps me cleaning as I go.I also go as far as to keep a bucket of bleachwater handy so I can sanitize my workspace as well, the only time I have a real mess is when I am making pizza dough or bread dough as it is hard to keep the flour from dusting everything in sight mostly when I'm doing the pizza as I am an old fashioned pizza maker and I like to twirl my dough in the air like they used to do in the old style pizza parlors in New York where I was trained, hence the reason everything gets a good dusting.
