i usually bath my dog twice a week...my vet said that its ok if you do it every other day.but i think its not the rigth thing to do.dogs are by nature wild.meaning they dont often bath themselves.its only thru rain that they can get wet.so guys,do you think am right here?

Here in Australia you're taught not to wash you dog anywhere near as often as you do - the reason being that dogs have a natural oil in their skin that helps to keep everything in balance with theit fur & skin. If you wash a dog too often, you can cause the skin to stop producing the oil which can cause yukky dry hair & dry, flakey skin! I rarely wash my dogs, they just go out & roll in the mud & smelly things as soon as you let them go back outside, then they're back to where they were before you started! I guess once or twice a month at the most would be ok for an indoor dog but i wouldn't do it any more than that, especially if you want their skin & hair to stay as it's supposed to be!

I guess it depends on the personality of the dog. My dog dislikes water but my friends have dogs who love water. They actually love swimming as well. I think since the vet has said that's it's ok for your dog to bathe once in 2 days, I guess that's fine. I'd take the expert's advice. I bathe my dog about twice a week. If he goes too long without a bath, he'd start to smell. But to encourage him to agree to a bath, I'd always encourage him by saying that after the bath, he can follow us on a nice car ride. It always works. :)

Well, we have Huskies and because they are a naturally clean dog we only have to really wash them 2 or 3 times a year. We give them a bath after their spring and fall shedding takes place and if they get playing in too much mud they get another one. I know with some dogs it's not good to bathe them too much because then they will lose some of the natural oils that they have on their skin and the skin will dry up.
