Mt two year old hass been coughing for the past two or three days so I have been trying to give him some cough medicine so it doesn't get worse. The first time he took it, and realized he didn't like it. But now when I try to get him to take some he says, "No tanchey", his No Thankyou. I tried putting it in his juice, but he wouldn't drink it. I don't want to hold him down and force him to take it, do yu have sany suggestions for me?

well there are a couple of things first..have you tried using a medicine dispenser? (will only work with liquid meds)they sell them in the pharmacy..or request one from your pharmicist, just explain the age and difficulty dispensing the medication to your child. also there are flovor additives you can add safely to the liquid medications as well sold OTC..you can ask your pharmicist about that as well..the flavors are fruity flavors formulated just for children.. hope this helped!

Juice isn't the best thing to use. Try putting it in something that covers the taste. Try chocolate milk. That usually worked for me.

Check with your pharmacy, a lot of them have different flavors that you can pick, and my Walgreens will let you come in and bring the bottle and they will flavor it even if she has taken some already. It costs an extra 2.99 but it is well worth it. Yogurt is great, but there are other things you can try, and maybe trying a new one each day will work too. Juice, pudding, ice cream are all good things to mix it in with. (as long as he will drink the entire/eat the entire thing you are giving to her) Also, I had to take a lot of medicine when I was a kid that I didnt like. My mom made me special muffins all for me with the medicine in it. Just shoot the appropriate dosage into each muffin after you stick them into a mini muffin tin, and have him eat one each time. Alot of medicines are also going to the meltaway tabs. Again talk to your pharmacist and see if they possibly have a meltaway tab that your doctor will perscribe for you. The tabs you can stick inside his cheek and they melt in seconds. My nephew took meltaway tabs when he was 2 months old because he didnt like the taste of his medicine, and he was too young to mix it in something. They were a lifesaver.

My children don't like to take the liquid cold medicine. I buy them the Triaminic cold strips. It is for children two and older. You just place the strip on their tongue it melts in seconds. I also buy chewables because the children like the flavor better.
