of late i read a book in which it says that the best way to impress a person is to look at the person directly in his\her eyes while talking. what i want to know is that dosent it make you tense when a person goes on staring at you?

It doesn't make me tensed.. When people look at me while I'm talking the more i become confident since he or she gives me an idea that he or she is listening and is interested with what I am talking about. So when a person looks at you straight in the eye this means that she's really listening to you and is trying to take in your words. You can also try to notice which way she glances while you're telling your tale. If she looks tot he right (meaning your left), it means that she's visualizing or seeing images in her mind. If she looks tot he left (meaning your right), she's remembering something--your story has triggered a memory.

Staring is fine but not total staring like when you keep on looking at the person even when you're not conversing. Cause people feel uncomfortable when you stare at them when you are strangers because that person would think you are criticizing him or her.

staring for a long time makes the person nervous. but it is a must to have eye contact while giving a speach.
