do you read the synopsis/summary first before buying a book?

or you just buy the book without ever glancing at its back as long as you like the author?

i always read the summary and maybe even the prologue, i can't stand waisitng money on books that are just plain horrible, and besides my theory is if the summary and the prologue doesn't catch my attention the evidently the book as whole will not get my attention and there is no reason for me to waist my money on it

i agree with you, i also have that theory toward the book. if the synopsis is a trash then that whole is the same. lol

It actually depends. If I am about to buy a book, a book that I have never heard of any reviews. I will definitely read the back cover to interest me on the book. I don't want to waste my money into something I wouldn't be able to use. However, if the school requires us to buy a book that we will be needing during the course of the semester, I don't see a point why should I read the book. After all, the school requires it and I will be spending my school time reading that book.

Yes, I always read the back of the book before I actually get it. I like to make sure that I'm picking out one that really sounds interesting to me. Since I don't always have the time to read that often, I am picky with the books I choose so that when I finaly do have time to read one, I know it'll be worth the time. :) I do have certain authors that I like of course, so I usually look at those ones first, but I still read the back just to make sure.
