How to talk to a friend whose father just died???

Oh my... I really need help regarding this... I have one of my closest friend's father died and I don't know If I should call her... as i am watching t.v this morning I saw her father on the news... her father is a very influencial person, he is a mayor of one progressing province here in the Philippines, He was shot last saturday and was announced in critical condition... this morning they finally reported that he died. I got this awkward feeling on people who just lost somebody they love, because I'm having a hard time figuring how to approach them... and since she is one of my closest friend... I don't know If I should call her now because I might say something that may not help because as I said I got this awkward feeling... what should I do??? helpppppp.... pleasssseeeeeee

well I think that nothing you can tell him can alleviate the pain the only thing is to show him you are here and you care and that if he needs you he knows you will be here for him and I am sorry for your friend's loss regards

Just say you are sorry. Then listen. If she wants to talk, then listen. If not, just be there for her.

Like other, even i don't know what to say in such situation. But, I in such situation, I would have gone to my friend and be with him as long as he requires me. In such situation, no words are needed. Just be there for the friend to lean on you and cry. Don't call her; better reach to her and spend some time with her....
