do you enjoy being with friends who smoke and drink, if you're not such?

In fact, i've travelled to experience a new life and culture all together in another country. I don't drink regular and never smoke but when i came to China i met friends when i'm invited to dinne with friends, they ask me to drink very strong alcohol and smoke but i tell them i can only drink beer and not any other strong drink, some do understand but others say i must smoke a little and drink little of the wine or whisky. so sometimes when people invite me to dinne with them, i'm often tempted to turn down the offer. i do sometimes but they say i'm not friendly. What should i do?
