Have you ever eaten a kumquat?

I didn't really know what to expect the first time I tried one. I thought it would be like a small tangerine but instead it was tart and pungent...I didn't care for it. I've heard they're good minced in savory sauces.

I have seen them before. I have always wanted to try them but then didn't. I've always wondered what they tasted like. Guess I'll have to keep checking your discussion to see what others have to say about them. =)

I know I've seen them as they grow pretty easily where I live. I think I tried one and it is very bitter or sour on the skin, but the fruit is very sweet. I knew someone who used to eat it all the time. She used to make a face when she bit into it, but liked the combination of the bitter/sweet taste. She said you have to wash the oils off the skin before you bite into them.

i've seen some in the store and i do want to try them but im still hesitating hehe... probably tastes like oranges hehe
