What do you take for seasonal allergies?

I have had allergies FOREVER. I have tried everything under the sun. I decided to ask my doctor about Singulair after seeing all those TV commercials. I did a little research and then called his nurse. I have been on it for a little over a week and I have noticed a great deal of relief. I am not waking up in the morning with itchy, crusty eyes. My nasal symptoms have improved as well. I took my son in for his annual checkup. He will be starting Sigulair tonight. He has been on Nasonex, Zyrtec, Clarinex, and a variety of decongestants and over the counter meds. Hopefully he will have similar results to mine!

My doctor has basically decided that I have year-round "seasonal" allergies. I think I'm allergic to this area, which has a tendency to give people a lot of sinus problems. I am on Allegra D and Nasonex year round, as a result. Before starting both of those, I would get at least one sinus infection every year, but since the time I started taking them year round, about 3 years ago, I have only had one sinus infection.

I had sinus surgery in 1995 because I had a sinus infection about every other month. They were contributed to by my allergies and were terrible for my asthma. I am glad I had the surgery and would do it again. I am also allergic to pretty much everything. My friends tease me and say I should live in a bubble. I have gone into anaphylactic shock twice. No similar pattern, and the doctors don't know what caused it. The first time, I was outdoors all day. The second time, I was at school, inside all day. I have tried Allegra, Nasonex, Flonase, Astelin, Zyrtec, Claritin, and many others over the years. I did allery shots at four different times in my life. I finally told my doctor that I would not subject myself to them anymore because I wasn't getting any relief doing them anymore.

I swear. Take a teaspoon of vinegar twice a day for a week and see if you notice a difference. It has worked for me. If the vinegar is too strong, put it in a glass of tea or water and drink it. Try it.

Believe me I know the feeling. I seem to be allergic to everything lately. I am always miserable. My doctor though started me on Astelin and that has worked wonders. I was on Singular and it did nothing for my nasal congestion or my itchy eyes. This stuff works though. There are days when I feel like I don't have any allergies at all. It's an amazing feeling. It is a perscription medication and I don't know the cost. The doctor gave me some free samples to try. I hope the Singular works for you.

I've had really bad allergies all my life and I tend to use claratin on a regular basis, since it seems to work the best without any side effects, like making me tired. It is also available in generic form now and very cheap, especially if you purchase it from a place like Sam's Club or costco where you can get a 6 month supply for under $10. Hope that helps, it did help me.

Congrats on finding something that works for your allergies! My daughter takes Singulair and it really helps her. It didn't help my son, he takes Clarinex. I take Singulair for both my asthma and my allergies. It's working but I don't think it's completely working for my allergies. Good luck to you!
