the best is windows xp professional edition,as a lot of my colients have experienced incompatability of majority of external programmes installed, and hence youll have to wait years for companies to develop programs compatable to vista, also ther are many un upgradeable programmes.so it is best you stick with xp, eventhough it has not got the looks.

I have tried vista on one of my fairly powerful machines but it took me awhile to find updates for some programs before it worked. I have a few more programs that does not really work on vista so for now, I like xp better.

I have tried Windows Vista and do not like it at all.It messed up my Whole system and I ended up having to Reformat my Computer because Nothing was working right or compatable with it. If they would have let these companies work on it Before they released it it would have been a good system But noooo not Microsoft they do everything a** backwards. Some programs are Vista compatable now but there are alot out there that are not. Also Dell is now selling there computers with windows xp installed on them instead of vista. That tells ya something right there. Windows XP is for me right now until they get Vista right. Have a Great Day

Give me plain old Windows XP. My husband had Vista on his computer and he ended up having to completely reformat his computer. It messed up alot of the programs he had on the computer and whenever he tried to do anything it would crash or just freeze up.

As a Pc repair tech. I must say Xp is better than Vista in many respects. 1. Vista's overkill security that actually defeats itself (if you don't make the right choices when setting things up.) It needs permission given to even run an antivirus. 2. The run speed of XP vs Vista. I know MS claims Vista is faster however put on the same hardware XP will run faster especially for memory hungry tasks as Vista uses too much for the OS itself. 3. The number of service calls. my clients consist mainly of XP users (over 10:1 xp:vista) yet I get more calls about Vista problems. (more evidence of Vistas problems can be found by looking at the number of critical updates already available for it. I hope this helps.

I have Windows Vista, and although I like it very much, nothing is compatable yet with Vista. Everything is copatable to XP or earlier. Hopefully soon everything will update so I can download what I want.
