People wonder how i know so much about computers. They come and ask 'hey, how do you know all these???' And i have a straight forward answer -- keep reading. All softwares and hardwares have help. One should read it to get full understanding of the s/w or h/w. Now, let me know how many of u have ever read a help manual of a software or hardware......

Of course I have. As a matter of fact, I read the help file for PhotoImpact just this morning. Another person, asking me to do research on a program I don't know. Funny, really, because I can learn a program in about ten or fifteen minutes. Then it's just a matter of practicing to gain speed. I have seen people sit with a program of r hours and still not know how to use its basic functions simply because they don't believe in reading the directions! I also do searches on the Internet for more clues in how to use a program if the help files are missing or incomplete. In today's age, there's just no excuse for not understanding a piece of software! The information IS out there. :) Good topic!

Actually, people come to me for troubleshooting and when i have done with there problem, i explain them what had happened and how i rectified it. By reading help file we gain knowledge of not only the software but also about other things; like, after reading Nero's manual , u will even know how your drive works, different International standards, how drive writes to the disc, etc. So, reading the manual always benefits....

I love help files. I taught myself most of what I know about computers by reading help files. They are a much under-rated tool. People should use them more often.

Yes. right; help files are really under rated. People look out for technicians and friends to solve Windows problems when they themselves have resolved it using the WINDOWS HELP. Some people may not be even knowing that windows has some help files(;-)).....

Yes,normally before i use a new software or hardware, i will read through the help file to get idea of how to use it.Although is not too details, but at least rough reading can help me to use the device easier.

I always read the help files when I install new hardware or software. Most people often skip this step, resulting in future problems, such as an incorrect display setting or video card incompatibility.
