Yes... it hurts... imagining their pain...but we human should experience pain to grow and learn... The only hing that you do is be there for him... be a good friend... In time they will learn to handle hardship on their own... I know how you feel esp. when the person who is hurting is close to your heart but being thre for them is enough help.

Broken heart - It hurts when hearts break
Yes it does make me sad. Because we all have gone through it and we all know how painful it is when heart breaks. It seems like time has stopped, nothing looks interesting, don't find any meaning in life. Memories of those good day hurt like thorns and there is no end to tears. It takes long time till a broken heart learns to smile again, if only it can.....that depends on how deeply someone was hurt....... yes it does make me sad, and like you I also want them to feel better as soon as possible. May God help such suffering people.

If you will ask if there are ways to assuage their feelings, it will be difficult to find which one would take, doing it successfully. For it there was one that you could think of, it would only abate the feeling of brokenness very temporarily. But there is always one thing that you can do, be there and offer help in any way. How? Be a good listener, give a moral boost or even try a good counseling, even if you are not a good authority on the matter. The fact is that you are there, at a time that s/he would need you most. S/he may like to unload, say need one to share some shocks of pain or simply let you hear the sobs.
