What is the brokest you have ever been in your life? I can remember years ago having like no money in my checking account, but it was right before payday but still! I was totally broke. What about you?

I would say I'm just getting out of the "flat broke" I've been in the last year. We were burdened down with car payments and my husband not working. Finally the cars were repoed. We ended up with an old truck that had big holes in the floor board. The lowest of the low was when we had the electricity turned off in 20 degree weather. But things are MUCH better now. I believe it was good for my husband to realize him being lazy does not pay off!!

we had $6.00 and move into a new apartment. My husband needed a hammer and spend $5.00 on it in 1966. Leaving us with $1.00 for 2 weeks!

I don’t think in my adult life I’ve ever been totally broke- Never! Wow that’s a good feeling. I’ve been lucky enough to have a good job and a savings account to fall back on when times got tough. That’s one thing my parents taught me- Save money- so when I was single and making a lot of money (before kids) I socked some away- That has saved me at different times of my life- Like when I had to go off work early to have my child- I was off for over 1 month- Disability doesn’t pay as well as my job did at the time. I fell back on my savings- My savings put a heck of a down payment on my car (which I paid off early) and our house! I’m slowly building it back up- I think it is very important to teach our kids to save money! I know that lesson my parents taught me saved me on several occasions.

About 5 years ago I was so broke that I couldn't pay my electric bill for two months (actually I never paid it, I ended up moving out of the apartment and moving in with a friend). We lived for two months with no electricity. I did a lot of reading and crafts to occupy myself. That really was a tough two months. I had to use friends houses to bathe in because I had no hot water. A lot of the food we ate was ready made. Thankfully their were no children involved (although if there had been we wouldn't have lost our electricity and could have gotten help). Have a wonderful day all! mahmah

lol...ummm today!!! We had 18.00 in our account this morning. My husband put that into the gas tank of our very thristy truck. I have 2.00 in my wallet. We are still trying to get back on our feet after my husband switched jobs. $ weeks without a pay check puts you very behind. I do see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel I just hope it isnt a train.

Years ago when my son was about 3 and I had just found out I was pregnant with my daughter, we had signed papers on a house we had just bought. Used all of our money for the closing costs, etc. My in laws stopped in on their way to a job, they travelled a lot during that time, used every last penney to do supper that night, I think it was chicken from Winn Dixie back then. We had to go almost 2 weeks with nothing but some donated loaves of bread and banannas. For real. We ate toast, of all kinds and lots of banannas. I will never forget that, after that we had a few close calls almost like this, but I hope to never be that broke again.

The most broke that I have ever been is NOW. Not literally now but these past few days. I have no single cent with me and my friends are asking me to go out. I have had 5 invitations within 3 days that I turned down because I have no money to spend and I don't like borrowing money from friends unless it is an emergency. So sad. I wish I'll get my allowance before school starts again.
