When I was at school I did, I was to feel guilty when I don't have full or semi full marks. But now at university I don't feel anything, I just want to pass exams with some marks but not full one, I know that I can make it but I don't want to exhaust myself in dreadful way. One of my fears was finished, I passed this exam, and it was one of the challenges to me it was too long and difficult one …. I want to know whether you feel success or not after exams. What is your feeling? Do you feel guilty not to have full mark, I know everybody can have full marks, are you one of those? What things motivate you? Do you feel that you have the ability to make something but you don't want to do it? I think the last feeling is bad to me, to lose my motivations and interests, but I know that I always get them back after break…

Well I am myself a student.......and i feel exactly the same way as you. Initially when i was in school, I usually got highest in maths and science but now in university the scenario has completely changed. I still get good marks but somewhere i feel that its not enough. And finally i tell myself that its better to give everyone a chance to top....lol

Nice discussion, rated:-) I have allways been excelent student and if the mark was not exelent, this made me upset. But later i didnt realize myself so well. And i feel again guilty. My parents say that i am guilty that i have not satisfied their expectation. Another motive to feel guilty... Ok...and with all this guilt in my heart how to have motivation for doing the things better? Of course, not...and i am again guilty... Do you know, it`s better to stimulate ourselves then to punish ourselves - and i am not guilty for thinking so:-P

Yes I felt guilty everytime I got a lower score on my exams. What a waste of time in my part. I support my studies so I have to make the most of it.

Actually not, i don't feel guilt cause of any exam mark unless this mark would threaten my future directly. sometimes i challenge myself to get such a good mark in certain exams, but in normal situations i don't care.

you get it . when i was in high school . i always feel guilty because of my parents' high expectation . and .when didn't get the high marks .i feel upset and so irritated . i think from psychology view point . as a student . i am not a confident guy and my parents impose great pressure on me .just use the way they think impose on me . never change the place to think for me /// to tell the truth . that's really a tough time for me . now .i a freshman in university . and life and study never like before . i never think the study and just want to pass the exam. and never guilty .i don't know what's wrong with me . maybe everybody have such feeling when you get in university .....

Never felt guilty. Ashamed I did. I felt ashamed to my parents who worked so hard so I could go to college and almost blew it. I felt guilty when once we got caught gambling on campus and when I went home, the guidance counselor got there first. My dad was so mad he almost didn't let me finish college. But I managed to turn it around. Close call.

i was never an excellent student. i always keep my exam scores very much above the passing line though (like i get 85-90 out of 100). when i was in elementary i get a bit guilty because my mom used to pressure me to get the highest mark possible. but during my high school days i forced myself to stop feeling guilty because i just have to do my best and that there is no need to force myself if i really can't. now at the university i am pushing myself to the limits once more because i want to stay away from the passing grade as much as possible. i want top marks now

when i was in high school i needed full or close to full marks to get into the course i wanted in university. but now that i am at uni - i only have to pass. why? because employers don't really make a big deal about the marks - as long as you pass - except if you are going for honours. In fact - a lot of employers for common jobs only want the average students due to the risk of the best students leaving for better jobs.

I used to have full marks in the primary school, and from the junior middle school on, it became really difficult to do all the answers right, but I still tried my best to get high marks. But after I entered the university, I didn't care so much about my marks and I didn't study as hard as before. I do feel guilty.

Before college, yeah, I used to feel guilty whenever I didn't do great, especially when the subject is easy and I just got lazy to study. BUt now in college, I'm just glad to pass. I do get guilty when the exam was seriously easy and I didn't get the answers, but most of the time I'm just glad to pass. What motivates me...hmm. I just think about my parents and how they work so hard to pay for the really expensive tuition fee. If I don't study, I'm just throwing their money away. And of curse, I want to make my parents proud so I try my best. One of my worst quality is that I am very lazy. that's my big obstacle.

I don't think it's easy to get a full mark at university, so it's not neccessary to feel guilty or something, once you have tried your best to study and handle the exam, it's enough!!

Now, I am a perfectionist, so it always bothers me when I don't get the perfect score. I want to learn everything, to know all of the material, or at least be at the level where my retention and learned ability is at the top or near the top of the class... not cause I'm competitive or need to beat everyone else, just for my own piece of mind. I wouldn't necessarily call it guilt, although I am sure there is even a little bit of that. It's more myself being a perfectionist and needing it all to be perfect. One of my biggest motivations is my fear of failure. I don't want to ever fail... I want so badly to succeed that it drives me through everything.

I really don't feel guilty whenever I don't get full marks on exams... but I do feel "sad" when I don't or regret about not doing good.. but it's ok I get over it right away... and do better the next time around.

Hi scapula i don't feel guilty when i don't get full marks not in school nor in university. As per marks are not scalabel once knowledge. If a person is active whole the sem and sudenly he felt ill and can't give up exams well then defenetly he will get bad marks. Then it is not wise to judge him as a poor guy.But most will judge once talent based on his marks secure. What to do ot happens.

I wouldn't even be able to make a top grade in my exams anymore anyways. I simply do my best and my best is the best I can do, right? So far it is going well still, although not top grades I am managing quite well if I might say so myself and that's what matters. I also find it important so spend more time beyond simply what you have to learn for your exams anyways so that works out quite well.
