Hello myLot members! We are excited to bring you the very first “Promote myLot Video Contest”! The goal of this contest is simple. Make a video promoting myLot, put it on YouTube, and fill out the information below to submit it. The best video wins $1,000!
There is very little in the way of limitations for this contest. We basically want our users to come up with creative videos to promote myLot. Some general ideas could be an innovative tutorial highlighting how to use all the myLot features, or a creative commercial promoting myLot. The possibilities are endless and one creative myLot member will win $1,000! Feel free to attach your referral link to your video so you get credit for users who join based on seeing your video. Enter as many videos as you’d like, the only requirement is that you do not enter the same video multiple times.
We have created a group at YouTube called “mylotcontest” specifically for the “Promote myLot Video Contest”. When you submit your video to YouTube, it must be uploaded to http://www.youtube.com/group/mylotcontest. The winner will only be selected from this YouTube Group.
After uploading your video to the group “mylotcontest” at YouTube, feel free to upload your video to as many video sharing sites as you’d like to help get your video more exposure. The more people that rate your YouTube video, the better chance you have to win. The judging criteria will be based on several factors including creativity, originality and the video’s YouTube rating.
The contest ends at 11:59:59 p.m. central standard time on May 31st 2007. myLot will choose a winner on or before June 5, 2007. The $1,000 prize will be paid to one lucky winner.

This will be fun. Not taking part in this myself, but I will watch and laugh at the many submissions. Hopefully people will try going for some humor. otherwise it may end up being a total bore.

This sounds really exciting and I am sure that a lot of people are already busy getting their video cameras together and whatever items they have to create a cool video. I hope that we will get to see some of the best videos. I do not have a video camera so that takes me out of the running. I think this is a great idea.

How about a digital camera? My camera has the ability to create short little videos that would be perfect for this contest. :) Just a suggestion.

I'm so excited I have been playing around with an idea for this for a few weeks now. Glad that I held off since now there is a contest to submit too. I need to get busy now and get my video done and posted. I hope to see some really GREAT videos for this contest. :)

This may be a wonderful idea for promoting Mylot but I don't think it is fair for the majority of us that don't have the ability to produce such a video .I think you should come up with an idea that we could all participate in .

The great thing about this contest is you only need a computer to be able to create a video to enter. There are multiple resources online that allow you to create videos with animation and screen capturing. Free software to edit these types of videos is probably already on your pc/mac. It can be as simple as recording your voice along with a slide show.

Also most of us have digital cameras or know someone that does that you might even be able to borrow. Really simple procedure to record a short little video upload to computer and submit to the contest.
Borrowing of the camera if you have your idea already set up and ready to go could be done in less than an hour.

Thats really amazing. The amount of $1000 is really big compared to the few cents for each discussion. So definitely its a good opportunity that mylot has given to its members to earn some more or should i say a lot more.

This is interesting news but it is also very challenging for those who are not technically savvy to produce the video.
For example, how does one capture video on screen shots ? What software does one need ? How do we get the free software, if any ?
Why limit the prize to only one lucky winner ? To make the contest more attractive, I think there should be more prizes to reward more people for their effort.

i agree with you that it will sound much better if there will be consolation prizes, too. i hope that mylot admin shall consider taking this idea a good thought. may positive action soon follow, it will be good to hear about it.

I agree that consolation prizes would be a great idea. I know that there is no way I could possibly win a $1000 prize since I don't even know where to start in making a video or how to use YouTube, so there is no point in entering in hopes of anything other than a consolation prize of some sort.

It's sad that I'm not very creative and bad at movieediting or I would definetly give it a try. But I already know someone else will win this instead of me, so I won't waste my time.

yes! it is but how will you knew if you have the talent to win this if you won't spend some time for this event? it's a opportunity that comes to for income and you just ignoring it...

It is good that my lot is bringing new ideas and goals to improve the site.BY uploading videos it is the best way to earn some extra money.Their will be the huge competition as many member's of my lot will be uploading videos.Let's see who will be the luckiest person to earn the jackpot 1000$.
