Do you believe that before an abortion was to take place that there should be parental consent for underage teenage abortions ? Do you believe this would help prevent some abortions that are occuring everyday to not take place or do you believe there would be more occuring ? Is this to easy of a way for underage teenager to fix a problem they are too scared to tell their parents about ? What are your feelings regarding this ?

After think about that one I would have to say I think there should be a parental consent for underage kids, So that if a child is 16 or younger thay would have to tell there parents what they did, And it would be up to them to make the decision. When you go to a hospital you need your parents consent to get surgery done and if you dont have it they will not do the surgery, and they have there medical degree and know what they are doing, Just think of all the kids that are going and getting abortions done by these people who dont have a degree in this kind of work it is really dangerous and there is allways the possiblity of getting seriously hurt or even dying when they do this, And I think the parents should have the rite to know what there child is doing when it comes to something as serious as this.

Doctors who perform abortions indeed DO have medical degrees, and most are actually obstetrics doctors, at least here in Canada wheree live. And its too bad they didn't care what their child was doing when she GOT pregnant in the first place

Yes, I think that would be a good law. Would it slow down teenage pregnancy and teenage abortions? It might but not very much. Hormones are out of control at that age and not much can stop them sometimes.

I do think that parental consent should be given on anything regarding their children. As long as they are living under their parents roof, they have a right to know and a right to object. Like a previous person stated, children under 18 have to get parental consent on a tattoo why should an abortion be any different? We are going on the same thing of "it's my body" and it is live altering so why should it be any different?

I believe parents should be involved with the tough decisions like this. They are too young sometimes to really think things through. I don't know if it will stop some, but at least it would be a good way to try to slow it down. I do believe some girls get in situations like that and panic. They just want things to go back to normal so they go through with it.

This was voted on in California and thank god it didn't pass. I think abortions should be accessible for anyone who chooses to have one. They're already so expensive! Let's not make it any more difficult. It has been shown over and over that the less accessible abortions are, the greater chance someone will seek out the illegal "back alley" types of abortions. They're going to happen, whether you believe they should be legal or not, so let's at the VERY LEAST make them safe! It all boils down a personal choice, and I don't think anyone else in the world has the right to interfere with that choice.

I think that parents do need to be notified about their children getting abortions. I would also suggest that they have a neutral party with them when they tell their parents. I feel that parents need to know. If they are not notified, then it just give their teens license to be careless. I know if it were me, being a parent, I would want to know so I could be support for my daughter.

Am just into my twenties and am not sure this is actually a good idea, beacause i know the mentality that runs through the minds of teenagers .They get so scared that they will not tell and run away fom home or things like that.So the best thing would be that the abortions be made legal but what i would like to see is more parent to child connection so that there is no communication gap in between, which will stop these kind of problems in the root itself. what say?

Another discussion that is sure to be controversial. LOL I believe that the parents should be aware before the procedure is done. I am against abortion. I am PROLIFE! I think that if the teens know that their parents will be aware of their s*xual activities then it will prevent some of the activity. Over time I think that it will even prevent more.

Well I'm pro-life, so I would like to see abortion made illegal at some point, but to answer your question I think it should be mandatory that underage teens have consent from one of both parents. Under-16s need parental consent for medical treatment and surgery so why should abortion be any different? Underage teens are also not allowed to get tatoos nor are they allowed to get married so why on earth should they be allowed to abort a life just to spare themselves of an inconvenience brought on by their own actions.

I think there should be parental consent just because abortion/ D&C could be potentially dangerous to the mother. I have no opinion on if it would stop abortions from happening, but I do believe since the two forms of abortion I am aware of out here (D/C and the pill one) could be potentially dangerous to the teen, it would be wise for the parents to at least know and be able to watch the kid to make sure she doesn't have any potentially dangerous side effects like too much bleeding ect.

Yes . I totally agree that underage teens should have parentral consent. the child is not at a stage wherin she can decide for herself . its just the feeling that they can do it on their own but they actually can't think for themselves talking things out to the parents solves a lot of problems, just thinking that they are old does not seperate them from us.
