How do you use your credit card?

Before I used credit card, I have doubts about using it because there are many problems when using it. Many of them become unexpectedly shopaholic, out of control because they use their credit cards without considering the bill they'll receive later. But my husband showed me that it's not always like that. For us that doesn't have financial strength, we use it to postpone some bills of purchases. Now, it's become the art of managing the credit card and income. How about you all?

I make sure I have the money in my bank account first and then I use my credit card for that particular purchase. I have a dividend reward card so it is a greater advantage for me to save for the particular item and then use my reward card. I do not like carrying much cash around with me unless I have to and only if I know I need it for something. I use the credit card in my money management program --to see where the money is going and budgeting.

My husband and I use the credit cards much as you said you do---------more as a management tool. We like being able to pay off several purchases at one time, with one payment. We have always had a standing commitment to paying the bill every month. And we have done pretty well with that. There have been a few times over the course of about twenty years where we haven't been able to pay it off that month due to some sort of emergency. Even when we can't completely pay it off we do make as large a payment as we can-------I don't believe we have ever made just the minimum payment.

Thanks for sharing. I think we shouldn't let the credit cards fool us =))
