Reaching a Meditative State

The Labrynth - As I sat on this pattern in the front veranda of A.R.E., I began to let stress ebb and flow out of my body as it was replaced by warm southerly breezes, sand and the smell of salty air filling my nostrils. My being was now permeated in spirit, void of ego. Amazing experience.

What do you do to 'erase' the ego-driven influences and bring on the 'spiritual' powers that can be used to awaken the close-minded brain and release oneself from the mundane of ordinary physical existence?

In my experience erasing the ego-driven influence is a difficult exercise. This is our psychological makeup in essence. The pulls of the astral body, thoughts and emotions. In a process of awakening the intent is to transcend or overcome these pulls and change standpoint. Erasing experience is not effective, becoming stronger because of them and not being pulled back because of negative, and even positive memories is key. Silencing the mind and not becoming antagonistic to thoughts is powerful. In the stillness comes powerful states of being. The ordinary mental consciousness is regarded in the hindu model as chitta - or blah blah blah or useless endless thought. Yet in the stillness comes higher thought. This in my experience is tapping into higher states of consciousness, in fact thoughts are above the brain, above the head and are layers to tap into and not to let fall into the brain like pancakes. I began meditation using the Third Eye technique, together with a practice called friction breathing. Very powerful and tangible. If you would like more details please get in touch.

I read your message three time (it only appeared once though but I mean for really getting the 'jist' of your response), and I realized you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT that erasing 'experience, ego-influenced' is the most challenging part of cleansing, not meditation which as you skillfully explained, is a coping mechanism better delivered than totalitarian thinking or displacement. I see where transcending in order to tap into the higher state of consciousness, to become smarter and adopt more positive values, is more the focus of good meditation. I am interested in learning about the Third Eye technique and I also am not familiar with 'friction breathing', therefore I definitely look forward to learning it from you. Is there a lesson to purchase cause if so, I am broke and you will just have to explain it step by step in an email. Thank you again, sharing the light, Erica Welcome to my world . . . http://www.enlightenment-psych.net

Hello friend, I have to correct or clear up my post, otherwise it is karmically irresponsible. Erasing experiences is not really possible and as such is not a direction to take. Trying to erase experiences is effectively suppression and that gets you nowhere. The transcending comes from no longer being pulled by the effects of an experience. In essence we are talking about the ultimate balance of the yin and yang, male/female, positive/negative polarity principles. The experiences we have in life and past lives are what make us who we have become. Understanding there is a spiritual evolution as well as human evolution helps with this context (not that this separate). So to erase memories or experiences is not useful, in fact it's useless!! Even if you already understood this, I had to make it clearer. As I re-read my post I discovered it's lack of clarity, apologies. I will send you a private message regarding information on the techniques I use.

So I have heard that erasing the ego-driven influence is nearly impossible to achieve because it is so necessary for existence. But when I want to relax and get out from under the stress causing elements of these experiences I geuss I am looking to ways of expanding consciousness rather than deferring it. I am so glad that this post is making a little more progress day-by-day teaching me . . . sharing the light, e

The "ego" is one of the basic property of basic chakra which is the lowest chakra in the human body. On removal of ego.. the physical body is transformed into atoms and at that stage a person can defy time and space. But it is obtained by rigorous spiritual practice done under some experienced person. As you meditate thoroughly and deeply everyday... the energy which normally flows out of ur body changes its direction and starts flowing towards ur body. With more and more deep meditation the energy flows towards the spine and lastly it moves from the base of the spine towards ur head... This leads to a stage known as Samadhi... and it is this time that all the ego driven influences are erased and all the spiritual powers come to you. This is vast topic for discussion. Spiritual powers are within every person... the only fact is tat their potentials are weak.It gets strengthened by deeper and deeper meditation.

To release oneself from the mundane of ordinary physical existence, to me, is to work. Work of any sort with your full involvement would 'erase' any unwanted things from your mind and is creative also. Your honesty and sincerity to your work is a process which transforms what is existing to something new. Only your dedication is what matters. Being creative and productive means others too will be benefited with it. If you go spiritual it means you are getting something for your own comfort. I think 'karma' (doing) is important than 'yoga'. Because any 'karma' has its results. Thank you for the post.

Work only works if it too is not mundane or boring or lacking in any creative avenue of expression. Keeping busy with hobbies, chores, fun activities that provide a channel out escape into the imagination and weird, is what 'works best for me'. Work in itself, is an outlet but must allow for creative expression or I won't participate in it !

Your question has three related things: first, the erasing process. Second, bringing on the 'spiritual' powers to awakene the close-minded brain. Third, releasing oneself from the mundane of ordinary physical existence. I think that you have perticulars for your meditation and you want to achieve that. But to achieve that one should have creative meditation and for that you need not to ask for erasing anything! Meditation is a state of mind in which such things are occurring gradually by the process and treat would be complete what ever is necessary! Secondly, what I understood by meditation process is not to get any kind of spiritual powers but to submit one's own self for the development of one's own spiritual growth! This growth would help the person to balance the life and issues and what ever is happening here to make the life smooth ,easy understandable and meaningful! It does not suggest 'releasing oneself from the mundane of ordinary physical existence', what you are aiming! I think that what you are saying is one kind of escapism and the school of meditation, I mean the yoga path is not in favour of any kind of escapism! I THINK REACHING A MEDITATIVE STATE IS AN AIM TO ACCEPT THELIFE AS IT IS AND TO BE THERE WITH YOUR OWN BALANCED AND POSITIVE EXISTENCE!

I think having just a bit of ego is a good natural thing, but there is a line that gets crossed a lot and that's when the person becomes the "ego". But to erase that, I would say takes first living, growing making mistakes and learning from those mistakes. I think if a person always tries to see things from another persons view and tries stepping in that persons shoes, then its easier to understand other person, and be sympathetic to their situation. I always say you cant truly judge someone unless you've lived in their shoes first. I've never tried to be spiritual, because I always just was, I couldn't seem to be anything else even if I tried. It sometimes takes being humble and even giving up your first place spot to someone else to really see and feel, just how messed up ego can get--but its worth the experience, your heart will feel better for it.

hello. i'm glad you asked. i've been painting my house to reflect a more subtle and calming atmoshpere. color and texture play a huge part of this. i added fountains and lighting that accent rather than using task lights. theh music changed too. so when you enter my house, you feel much more at ease and want only to settle in one of the over stuffed couches and chairs in the front or den. the back yard is next. rescaped with exotics and bamboo, water features and a jacuzzi, fire pit and comfy seating.

Hello there roadrat, Welcome to a portion of my world disclosed through reaching the meditative state in a variety of avenues. Yours is highly conducive, similar to Feng Shui (but not and probably better 'cause it is more you than a pattern), and allowing for the subtle energies to come on through . . . at your discretion or encouragement ! How soothing ! sharing the light, Erica, the Enlightenment Advisor,M.A.Transpersonal Psych Studies Counselor http://www.enlightenment-psych.net

I truly doubt that we can "erase" the ego or its influences. Habit and the human mental pictures that bombard us will win out much of the time. Quiet meditation will allow us to drift from the ego drive while we do it and is a great start. We can control the brain chatter to a degree once we realize we want to and focus on the process. The real question is: How often and for how long can we focus on love, gratitude and forgiveness rather than getting sucked into the daily grind? For each individual the answer will vary, but it is truly a worth-while goal. Very good subject!
