I have been thinking a lot about the role of tradition and cultural practices in society and to an individual in a community. I have come to the conclusion that tradition and cultural practices must be preserved for the survival of the community and the individuals who make up the community. Traditions and cultural practices not only gives the community its identity but also it binds the members/indiviuals of the community together. It is this binding force that lends support to the individual in times of trouble. Modern society is slowly doing away with traditions and cultural practices, resulting in the individual becoming more and more alienated from his community. When faced with challenges in life the modern individual has no where to turn to and resorts to other forms of artificial support including drugs, alcohol, etc. What are your thoughts about this
