What Carbon Di oxide in soft drinks do to our body?

Does Carbon di oxide used to generate bubbles(soda) in the soft drinks have effect on our body? Am i right in first place to say that it is carbon di oxide used to make soda or is it something else? Whatever gas it is, what effect does it has on our body?

For ur kind information just to tell u that uses of carbondi oxide in cold drinks or soda is very high.It effects our body but very slowly.Infact cold drinks doesn't contain water it has only gas and sweetened.So we should use it very less.
