When do I can get my babies first hair cut!?

This was posted by my wife before on her account but then it was deleted that is why I'm posting it again in order to take advices from you guys.
My 6 mos. old little man's hair seems long enough to cut. But then when I ask some of my friends outside myLot they told me that its better to cut it when he turns 1 year old. However I can see that the hair makes him irritated because he feels more hot with the hair. He gets more sweat and sometimes he really yell and make tantrums when he feels so hot and irritated. However I'm scared to cut off his hair because some folks says that it might not grow good if I'll cut it too early.
Please share your stories and some advices. Thank you in advance.

in the philippines, we don't cut the infant's hair until he/she is one year old. i don't know the reason for that exactly. and when it's cut, the cut hair is placed in an encyclopedia or dictionary.
