Poverty is when a person or family cannot afford food, shelter and drinking water according to global interpretation. In the USA it depends on how much money you make, if you have a house, cars in the garage and if you can take a vacation. If you don't have a house, cars, and cannot take vacations then you are poor. How is poverty defined in your Country?

Before I define Poverty in our country, let us see what is poverty really means. Poverty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty) is a condition in which a person or community is deprived of, and or lacks the essentials for a minimum standard of well-being and life. Since poverty is understood in many sense, these essentials may be material resources such as food, safe drinking water, and shelter, or they may be social resources such as access to information, education, health care, social status, political power, or the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with other people in society. With this, i could define that poverty here in our country(Phillipines) is measured through income of one's family and those who are really deprived in terms of education and food.

Thank you for your response. It is agreed then in the world that a person and/or community that is deprived of the essentials is considered poor. However, some people are poor even if they have the essentials like shelter, food and water but are not able to educate their children due to poverty.
