what is the basic purpose of using a mobile?

with the advancement in technology mobiles are becoming more & more advanced.apart from camera,mp3 player,internet there a lot of facilities in the latest mobiles.but the basic purpose of using a mobile is communication i.e to make calls and to receive calls.if i'm not wrong then today calls are made by using missed calls.apart from making calls all other options of mobiles are used.what do u think about this?
