One of the more difficult topics to navigate in regards to HIV is disclosure, or telling someone your HIV status. This is particularly tricky when it comes to dating someone whose status you do not know. Should I tell them? Should I not tell them? If I tell them, WHEN should I tell them? Certainly there are many who feel that disclosing one's HIV status on the first date is appropriate. Others, however, are of the opinion that to disclose on the first date ruins the date and eliminates any possibility of getting to know the other person. If you are HIV negative, would you like to know if your date is HIV positive on the first date or does it depend on the person and situation. If you are HIV positive, do you usually disclose on the first date or do you wait. Does disclosure make you nervous or do you feel that your status is a part of you that should be accepted and respected. What's your opinion?
