Why Are You Still Using Internet Explorer??

In the days where Internet Security is a much talked about topic, it surprises me that so many people are still using Internet Explorer. There are other browsers out there (most popularily being Firefox) that have been proven to be much faster, much safer, just as easy to use, and have many more options for customization. I've been using Firefox for nearly two years now and so do most of my friends, so I'm always surprised when I hear of someone still using IE. So for those of you who do, why, when there are so many advantages to using something safer?

Firefox runs terrible on my computer, it takes forever to load even with my cable internet. If I wanted slow I would go back to dial up. I am just not impressed with it.

I switched to using Firefox a few months back and im happy i did. Internet Explorer seemed to unstable for my liking and its not as secure as firefox is. I also like the tab option in firefox that keeps various web pages to a single web browser window instead of having lots of seperate browser's open. I also love the add-ons available for firefox, like NoScript which i have installed with Firefox that stops any website and any popup from displaying unless i want it to.

Well I like IE better because I find it more friendly since I am used to it. As for Fire Fox, here is an interesting research that you would like to read.

there can be many reasons for this..in most cases people do not know that a better option exists..i have seen many of my friends changing their browsers when i told them about firefox, opera and stuff..other reasons can be comfort level..habit..ignorance..and so on..

It's just a matter of getting used to one explorer and if that does the job then why learn another one and learn new things all over again. If some one can find a way to re-invent the wheel then so be it the wheel will always be here. Have a nice day from Deeeky.

Only intermediate users, who know little about online exploits and the available security software, hardware, and tactics available to PCs, would suggest switching browsers and/or operating systems over competent security software. Why am I still using Internet Explorer? Because it's the de facto standard, point-blank. There is a lot of web content that can only be accessed with IE, including a majority of ActiveX controls and Java programs. For speed, and for portable and ready access to my logins and bookmarks, I use Opera Portable Personal. It stays on my 2GB flashdrive, along with my e-mail client and a bunch of other stuffs. I use AOL Safety and Security Center, Arovax Shield, and Folder Guard Pro to secure my machine, not my browser. Browsers are for browsing, and security software/hardware is for security. I'll never understand how so many users got this all mixed up! With my existing security infrastructure, NOTHING infects my machine, EVER. For your viewing pleasure, here's how I score in PC Security Test 2006: http://www.mylot.com/w/image/1488078.aspx Opera is safer AND faster than Firefox, yet even Opera has its vulnerabilities. And just FYI: because of the security apparatus I have, my IE6 is tougher than your Firefox, while still remaining universally functional. Hope this helps!

Firefox. I love the addons. I used to have Firefox mainly for the tabbed browsing, now internet explorer has it too. I still use Firefox though, it's a lot easier to use.

I agree with resa77. I've been using firefox for about 2 weeks and the increase in speed alone has convinced me that internet explorer is useless. The safety of firefox is also much better. Instead of IE's simple asking of are you sure you would like to download something firefox will warn you if the download is most likely going to harm you. For those of you who say,"Oh, I'm accustomed to the setup and look of IE'" guess what. In the updates and download section for firefox someone has created an download that puts the firefox browser in IE form. So for all of you haters out there, there are no excuses. It's time to switch.

Yes, that is true. Internet explorer is still being used by a lot of people because it is very stable and capable for opening all special webpages or websites, though it failed to do its job when it comes on security matter. Otherwise, I recommend mozilla firefox or opera as the safest browser to use. Have a nice day and God speed!

I'm not using Internet Explorer but a browser based on Internet Explorer, Avant Browser. I like it a lot but sometimes I also use Firefox. Some pages don't load very well in Firefox, I really don't know why, maybe because they are only made for IE.

I prefer Firefox, but I still use IE. Sometimes things view differently in IE then they do in Firefox. FYI: hajali copied this discussion word for word.

I still use Internet Explorer but I do have FireFox on the computer. I really don't have a good reason for why I still use Explorer other than the fact that I'm just used to it. I just don't like to change I guess.

Before IE7, I use only Firefox. It is secure and with many useful plugins. With the IE7 launch, it seems close the gap with Firefox. I use both product interchangeabily now.

i use IE for web-based applications. But for surfing the internet I use Mozilla. It's safer and has cool add-ons!

Im not using Internet Explorer anymore. I think that Firefox is a faster browser than IE, if you know the right tricks to adjust firefox first :p . My internet connection is pretty fast so it makes a lot of difference what browser you use. I think that Opera may be even faster than Firefox, but I'll still stick up with the foxy! ;)
