Dependance on...

United States

We have really become a society dependent on one main thing - Electricity. Just think for a moment how many things depend on it. Elevators, doors, some cars, fans, heaters, television, radio, computer, lights, to pump water and remove sewage, and much more. Some people would have permanent bad hair days without electricity. Electricity runs just about everything and as petroleum runs out, it will run even more of the things we have come to depend on. I took a bit of time off from myLot for some simple reasons. First, I had some phone trouble (another thing dependent on electricity) and I am switching gears in my work like. I am now also working as an independent Fund Raiser. That's right, I help non-profits raise money for a pay check, but it is sporadic work. I enjoy it, because I am good at it and I work as I want, setting my own schedule, even if it is for a short time around an organizations needs. So, really back to topic, we as a society in the U.S. have become hopelessly dependent on things that use electricity. Without it and them, most people can not function and would have no idea how to feel complete. And, that, is the sad comment on our society as a whole. So, I challenge everyone interested, live without electricity for 24 hours. None. You can't even drive your car, because it has an alternator, you can use the phone or anything else in your life for 24 hours that uses electricity, even from batteries. See if you can do it. Good Luck.
