The Hon'ble Supreme Court will take up the final hearing on OBC Quota Reservation today i.e. Tuesday 8th May, 2007. The issue the petitions before the Hon'ble Supreme Court is that the Constitutional Validity of Law providing 27% reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) students in elite Central Educational Institutions has been challenged. The decision on aforesaid issue will affect a large number of students throughout the Country. The Hon'ble Supreme Court is making an early hearing of the aforesaid issue as the matter is extremely urgent. In my opinion, the 27% quota should be abolished as there is no need for any quota system in the present scenario. The only thing which should be done at all levels is to undertake financial measures to promote the economically backward students. The only reservation which India requires should be for the Financially Backward.
