I still think I have a problem of speaking in public, especially without a text in my hand. It happened before in my college years. Well, maybe that was normal since in my younger days I was not that talkative. But recently, I just realized I had still not 100% comfortable when talking in public addressing hundred of people. Sometimes my brain just stops functioning when it comes to the crucial point. How do I overcome it?

Apparently public speaking is more feared by people than dying, so you're not alone. I did a few things to improve my public speaking skills, since I had to do it as part of my work. First I joined Toastmasters. It's very scary at first, but you get lots of practice in an environment where it doesn't matter if you make mistakes. After a few meetings, you start to not feel any anxiety at standing up in front of the group, and eventually you start to feel invigorated. When it's been a while since I've made a speech, and my nerves start to act up again, I practice in front of a mirror, and try to commit the openning and closing to memory (if not the whole speech). I find, if you get off to a good start, and know that you have a prepared ending, your brain is less likely to freeze. Good luck.

It is said that people would rather die than speak publicly. I too have the same fear of speaking in public. I think lots of people do. I think it helps if one does the following as well:- -- when you are on the stage, just imagine that you are alone talking to yourself -- picture yourself being successful in speaking in public -- volunteer to speak in public frequently I feel the only way is to practise, practise, practise. That's really the only way to overcome the fear of public speaking.

Being a public speaker myself I can share with you some of my tecniques in overcoming fear. First and foremost be sure to know the topic you are discussing, second when this tinkling sensations comes in to you its a sign that fear is starting to touch you.... the best thing to do it is to pause and take a depth breath then blow it slowly to your mouth in that case you can organize your thought again; these are my tecniques hope it will work on you also.

Oh, i myself has a stage freight. I trembles when i am in front of so many people. Maybe because i am just thinking that i can't really do it that's why. Or i am not really confident being in front of so many people. Well, maybe just try to find tips over the internet on how to overcome your stage freight because that is what i am doing but until now, i don't have that confident yet. Or better yet, before speaking in front, try to practice many times what you are going to say until you are confident enough. And when you are already in front, don't look too much on the people in front of you because they might just destruct you.
